Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Kigali to Karongi & Lake Kivu Island Boat Tour

• 07:30 AM: Pick-up from your hotel or residence in Kigali by your personal driver-guide.
• 08:00 AM: Depart west toward Karongi, enjoying a scenic drive through rolling hills, terraced agriculture, and lush tea plantations.
• 11:30 AM: Arrive in Karongi, check into your lakeside resort, and take in the magnificent views across the water.
• 12:30 PM: Enjoy a fresh lunch at the lodge featuring freshly caught Lake Kivu fish (Sambaza or Tilapia).
• 02:30 PM: Board a private motorized boat for an exploration of Lake Kivu's famous islands:
  • Napoleon Island: Take a guided trek to the summit of the island shape resembling Napoleon's hat. Encounter thousands of fruit bats roosting overhead and enjoy 360-degree views of the lake.
  • Monkey Island: Cruise past to spot resident vervet monkeys inhabiting the lush island canopy.
• 05:30 PM: Return to the resort to watch a breathtaking Lake Kivu sunset.
• 07:30 PM: Dinner and overnight stay by the lake in middle range hotel/lodge

Day 2: Coffee Experience, Lake Relaxation & Return to Kigali

• 09:30 AM: Embark on an interactive local coffee tour along the shore. Learn how local farmers plant, harvest, wash, roast, and brew fine Rwandan Arabica coffee, finishing with a fresh tasting session.

• 02:00 PM: Begin your return journey back to Kigali, with photo stopovers along the scenic mountain route.
